Apart from a little experience volunteering to run events and with my university’s disability office, I had never worked in this area before joining Skybound Therapies. I have a BSc in Zoology from Swansea University, and most of my previous jobs have been in theatre, animal management, or the hospitality industry. When the pandemic hit in March 2020, stuck at home and watching friends who were nurses, carers, and teachers keep making a real difference in people’s lives even under incredibly difficult conditions, I knew that I wanted to do something more impactful.
Working with Skybound Therapies gives me the chance to make a difference every day in the lives of young people and their families. There is nothing better than seeing that bright smile when you sing their favourite song together, or the elation of helping a skill be mastered or a challenge overcome, and knowing that you have worked on it together.
While with Skybound, I have completed my Registered Behaviour Technician (RBT) qualification, and am working on my Pembrokeshire College Qualification. I have worked with children aged 3-11 in my past year working in ABA, and have previous experience with children, teenagers, and adults in various volunteering roles or while working as a note-taker for my university’s disability office.
