Hi, I’m Meg! From the age of 4, I have been a competitive swimmer, which I unfortunately had to stop at the age of 14. Up until then, swimming was a large part of my life, with swimming up to 9 times a week and getting up early to swim before school. After having to give it up, I decided that I wanted to coach children in swimming and share my passion with them, so that’s exactly what I did. Alongside this, I volunteered in my local leisure centre to help teach children and young people how to swim. One of my proudest moments during this whole time was teaching a 5-year old boy to swim independently for a few metres, so as soon as I was able to, I became a level 2 swimming teacher and started teaching children and adults to swim.

I knew that I wanted a career where I could help others reach their potential in whatever they want to do. Therefore, I studied ‘Childhood and Youth’ as my undergraduate and this is where I found Applied Behaviour Analysis. This was a module that I took throughout my three years of my undergraduate degree and it was the one I loved! I went on to study my masters Applied Behaviour Analysis and Therapy. During this, I was still working as a swimming teacher but also started working as a Behaviour Therapist too.

In 2018, I started with Skybound Therapies Ltd as an apprentice and shadowed Risca for 5 months. During this time, I gained a vast amount of experience, working with adults and children all around the UK. I went to see clients in their schools, homes and residential houses and helped train the people who were working with the clients, whether that be the parents or staff. In August 2020, I became a BCBA and have worked with children and adults primarily in homes and schools since.

I live in Newport, but you’ll often hear me being referred to as one of the Cardiff team. I live with my husband Tom and my two stepdaughters, Ivy and Edie. I am a cat-mum to Leo, who will try his best to make an appearance on our zoom calls, whether that be meowing down the mic, walking along the keyboard or trying to play by jumping up at me – I apologise in advance! I love the weekends with my family, the beach is our favourite place to escape to. When we can’t get to the beach, a walk along the canal behind my house will also do the trick. However, on the super rainy days, who doesn’t love a PJ day too?!
